Action for Post-Soviet Jewry (APSJ) in cooperation with the Greater Boston Jewish Community Relations Council's (JCRC) Post-Soviet Jewry CommitteeHosted a 25th Anniversary Gala Receptionat Congregation Mishkan Tefilaon December 12th, 2000
Many members of the greater Boston Jewish community were present, including former refuseniks (those refused their right to emigrate from the Soviet Union) and travelers to the Soviet Union who had visited with them and offered their support.
Our 25th Anniversary event celebrated the past, present and future activity of the Greater Boston Jewish community in the former Soviet Union.
We particularly marked the on-going effort in eastern Ukraine - the Adopt a Bubbe program, the Women's and Children's Health Clinics, the Special Needs Initiative for children with disabilities, the Children's Winter Camp with the Bureau of Jewish Education, the Jewish Big Brother Big Sister organization, teacher exchanges and many more people to people exchanges. Much of this has been made possible by special allocations by the Overseas Committee of the Combined Jewish Philanthropies.
