Action-PSJ will be sending regular updates on the situation in Ukraine. Some of these, will be briefings from our coordinators and partners on the ground there. Others will be news and articles that we feel are important to share. These updates will help us understand how dire the situation there is and the critical importance of the aid that you make possible. Please give now so we can help our fellow Jews endure this hellacious experience.
FROM ALEXANDER DROZDOV, OUR COORDINATOR IN BERDYANSK
Our situation is very ambiguous, and the situation is constantly changing. It is very good that you are trying to support us. The most important thing is not to panic now. We will be very grateful for any help from you. It is very necessary now. We hope for the best!!! I am constantly in touch with my wards. The situation is very serious and difficult and is constantly changing. Help is needed both financially and parcels with fish products and hygiene products, and everything that was discussed earlier. We will be very grateful for any help. We desperately need it right now.
Update-- at 4:00 pm ET. Alexander just wrote me --We've got an air raid alert. Almost everything has been turned off. The internet is very bad. Many thanks for your help and support.
Berdyansk is a port city in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast (province) of south-east Ukraine. It is on the northern coast of the Sea of Azov, which is the northern extension of the Black Sea.
READ ABOUT THE EFFORTS OF OUR PARTNER, JEWISH FEDERATIONS OF UKRAINE Among those in need of help are the tens of thousands of elderly Jews who have been largely homebound over the last two years. (Rabbi) Stambler’s team is working to get them — and others who are running low on essentials such as non-perishable food and water — the support they need to last through the invasion — be that days, weeks or much longer.
