Action-PSJ will be sending regular updates on the situation in Ukraine. Some of these, will be briefings from our coordinators and partners on the ground there. Others will be news and articles that we feel are important to share. These updates will help us understand how dire the situation there is and the critical importance of the aid that you make possible. Please give now. The need is now. Together we can save lives now.
ACTION-PSJ IN ACTION:
Your generosity helps us do more. Thank you for your support!
A small group of volunteers worked tirelessly over the weekend to sort through the many boxes of emergency supplies sent by numerous generous donors. To all who sent items from the Amazon emergency supplies list and sent financial support-THANK, YOU See pictures below.
Together we filled 15 boxes totaling over 1000 lbs of humanitarian aid.
Thanks to your generosity, we are sending tuna fish, soup, sugar substitutes, socks, emergency blankets, flashlights, soap, toothbrushes, and paste, as well as over-the-counter medicines and other emergency medical supplies.
Monday, the boxes will start their journey to NYC and then to a country near Ukraine via a cargo plane. From there, they will truck the boxes into Ukraine for distribution.
We will continue to ship boxes of humanitarian aid as long as our shipping company can continue to guarantee their delivery. They, too, understand the urgency and need. Below is their latest update:
We are still accepting packages to Ukraine, with an increased need and demand for food, humanitarian aid, provisional goods, and medical/tactical supplies in Ukraine. We anticipate an upcoming shortage of goods all over Ukraine, especially in Ukrainian stores and supermarkets. We will deliver everywhere it is safe to do so. For affected regions, we can coordinate alternate delivery addresses and pick-up options.
The Closure of Memorial in Russia and the Repercussions from Putin's War against Ukraine Tuesday, March 1, 2022, 12:30 –1:45pm EST The webinar is a part of Live Video Stream Series events of the Sakharov Seminar on Human Rights at Harvard University:
At the end of 2021, the Russian Supreme Court approved the Russian government's demand that Memorial, an NGO promoting human rights and historical memory in Russia, be disbanded. This event, part of a hardline authoritarian backlash under Vladimir Putin, was soon followed by Putin's decision to embark on military operations against Ukraine, intensifying a war he began against Ukraine in 2014. This seminar explores the connections between Putin's repression of human rights at home and his bellicose policies abroad. These aspects of Putin's lengthy tenure in office are two sides of the same coin. Joshua Rubenstein SPEAKER Associate Director, Major Gifts, Harvard Law School
