Action-PSJ provides direct humanitarian aid to the elderly Ukrainian Jews to meet needs left unmet by overwhelmed social service agencies. This aid takes many forms. It could be medication for one person, winter clothing and shoes for another, financial subsidies to pay rent and other bills, or social check-ins to combat loneliness and depression. Our local coordinators and volunteers in Ukraine are still there, sheltering from the war at home, heroically helping their neighbors.
UKRAINE UPDATE- Impact on Elderly Tuesday, June 28, 1:00 pm
On Tuesday, June 28 at 1:00 pm, Action for Post-Soviet Jewry will be hosting a live Zoom update on the situation in Ukraine. This is an opportunity to hear about living through the war in Ukraine and how the elderly are coping with this extremely difficult situation.
The session will feature Action-PSJ Ella Gorchava Dnipro Action -PSJ Ukraine Program Director. If the situation allows Community Coordinators from Mariupol, Kamensky, Poltava, and Novomoskovsk may also participate. ACTION-PSJ’s Executive Director Debbie Kardon will moderate.
This is a rare opportunity to hear from Ukrainian citizens who are providing much-needed support and humanitarian aid to their elderly neighbors. They will provide firsthand updates on the situations in their communities and their current needs.
The conversation will be in Russian with real-time translations. A question-and-answer period will follow.
As a humanitarian aid organization committed to volunteerism both here and in Ukraine, Action for Post-Soviet Jewry is uniquely positioned to provide this important opportunity to hear the personal perspectives of Ukrainian citizens committed to providing neighbor-to-neighbor services.
Helping hands here supports boots on the ground there: The foundation of Action's successful history as a grassroots organization – the ability to galvanize collective action from the local level to effect change - drives our wartime mobilization efforts. These projects are examples of this and more ways YOU can help! Be in touch if you want to organize your own drive!
Action-PSJ continuously updates the supply wish list as requests from Ukraine come in. The situation on the ground is very fluid and changes daily. We want to be prepared to ship as it is safe to do so, as the need for these basic supplies increases. We have added items to create activity kits for children and seniors. Click here for the SUPPLY WISH LIST.
Please share these updates with your family, friends, and colleagues.
