This week was a true test of endurance. For days Russia has sent rockets across Ukraine, targeting civilian areas. Action-PSJ's Ukraine Program Director, Ella Goncharova, our 13 Community Coordinators, our 15 Communities, our 220 elderly and adults with disabilities, and our partner organizations in Dnipro and Kyiv have spent days in the dark and cold. They report non-stop air raids with rockets landing close enough to them they can hear and feel the explosions.
They sit in the dark and cold with determination, grit, and hope. Their resiliency is the resistance. This week, from your donations, we sent 20 boxes filled with hand warmers, thermal underwear, flashlights, solar, USB lamps, and more. Through your generosity, we also sent financial support to help subsidize the rising cost of every day items. The electric heaters you helped us purchase are on their way to 200 households.
In this video update from President Volodymyr Zelenskyy Half the regions and cities he mentions is where we work (in bold) and where your support is sent directly to our Coordinators and elderly.
Your helping hands here support our boots on the ground there.
"Over the past day, more than 10 Ukrainian regions suffered terrorist attacks. Zhytomyr region and Kyiv region, Sumy region, Dnipro and Kryvyi Rih, Kharkiv region and Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv and other cities of the south of Ukraine, Donbas. Wherever possible, we are trying to speed up restoration work."
