Smila: One of our smaller and more remote communities. At the beginning of the war, Action-PSJ's Community Coordinator, Archardy, reported they felt fortunate. They still had bread and milk in the stores, there were very few air raids, and since they were such a small village, not many displaced people stopped there on their way out of the more active war zones. That changed dramatically this week. Amidst day-long power, heat, and water outages, Archardy heard a tremendous noise, his apartment building shook, and there was lots of smoke. As unreal as this sounds a rocket landed next to his apartment building. Miraculously, it did not go off. It may have been a dud. The officials came and secured the area. Due to security issues, no one was allowed to go close or take pictures.
The electric heaters were delivered to him right after this occurred, along with two big boxes of humanitarian aid. The boxes were filled with donations from many of you and included 100 lbs. of assistance, such as hand and foot warmers, thermal underwear, flashlights, soup bags, and more.
