Reflections about the horrific events in Dnipro
Dear Friends,
Last week Dnipro was shelled by Russian-led terrorists.
This is the city where our base of Action-PSJ's operations is. Where our Ukraine Program Director, Ella Goncharova, lives. Many of our partner programs are based in Dnipro. We have friends and colleagues who live in Dnipro, and they have children and families.
The explosion and this tragedy occurred less than 10 miles from them. While everyone we care about and care for is physically safe, for them, the closeness of the war, hearing, feeling, and smelling the explosion is unnerving.
Thank you so much for your messages of love, support, and concern.
I'm thankful that everyone we hold dear was physically safe from the shelling. Our friends in Dnipro are safe, but the city has been hit hard. We are lucky because we have a diverse group of people who can pivot quickly, adapt and move forward. We immediately reached out and offered Action-PSJ's support. Through Ella, we are reaching out to the authorities in Dnipro and are offering help, especially to the impacted elders.
But the war continues to rage on for close to a year, and it's getting closer and closer to us every day.
You may wonder why I'm writing this. Why am I telling you about the horrific events in Dnipro?
It's simple: the war has been going on for over a year, and it's getting closer and closer to us daily. We've seen the horrors of war firsthand, but with your support, we're here to help.
Thanks to you, we can pivot immediately and help where needed most.
As soon as we heard about the attack, we reached out to our colleagues in Dnipro to ensure their safety and offer help if needed.
We are so fortunate to work with a wonderful team based in Dnipro and proud to be able to support them during this time.
Many of you have supported us over the years; thank you, your support lets us pivot quickly in this type of situation.
